KDE Plasma 5.3 Beta 发布，此版本新增大量的组件，改进了现有的桌面，用户更加友好。
用户友好体现在：
- 电池监视器程序能够在桌面显示应用程序，也可以抑制电源管理。
- 关闭笔记本和显示器连接的时候，默认启用‘Cinema mode’模式。
- 屏幕亮度也可自动变化。
- 键盘亮度按钮可以支持锁屏。
其他改变有：
- A new touchpad configuration module
- Contact integration with the Application Menu
- Improved bluetooth functionality, including new applet, ObexFTP listing in Places panel
- Return of system stat Plasmoids (e.g. CPU load)
- KDE Activities powers Recent Docs, Recent Apps in Apps Menu
- Plasma Media Center tech preview
- Work towards running on Wayland
